AI
AI that works from your fleet’s own records.
MergeMarine.ai merges your systems first, then puts AI to work on the result. It answers questions across every workspace, drafts the paperwork, and proposes changes. Your people approve them.
Ask AI
One assistant, one answer, whichever screen you ask from.
Ask AI opens from the home screen, dispatch, and analytics, and gives the same answer from each. Because the records are merged, one question can cross systems that used to live apart.
Which tugs are free Friday afternoon, and is anything due on them?
Two of your four tugs are free Friday afternoon. Tern is free but has an open non-conformity, so Kestrel is the cleaner choice.
- KestrelFree from 13:00Nothing due
- TernFree all afternoonNon-conformity open: steering gear
- HeronBooked 14:00, inbound assistEngine #2 service due in 38 h
- OspreyBooked 15:30, undockingTSMS certificate: 21 days
Answered fromERP jobsMaintenanceSubchapter M
- Questions across every system
- Jobs, logs, and billing from your ERP, live AIS and zone alerts, ports and weather history, maintenance and Subchapter M, and crew records, in one question.
- Tug availability done properly
- Asking which tugs are free uses the dispatch board’s own booking rules, not a query the assistant improvises.
- Plain English to a chart
- In analytics, a question becomes a query and a chart. The SQL behind every answer is one click away, and you can edit it and run it again.
- Explain this query
- In the SQL editor, ask what a query returns. The assistant reads the SQL in front of you and explains it.
- Help with the app itself
- Ask how a screen works and the assistant answers from the in-app help for the screen you are on.
- Answers only
- Ask AI cannot create, edit, or delete anything. For a change, it points you to the workspace that can propose one.
Questions it answers
- Which tugs are free Friday afternoon?
- Which vessels are overdue for maintenance and also have a job today?
- Whose credentials expire in the next 90 days?
- How many assists did each tug work last month?
Assistants in each workspace
Beyond answers: drafting, proposing, and summarizing.
Each workspace has help shaped to its work. Anything that would change a record stops and waits for a person.
From the maintenance assistant, reading the OEM manual you pointed it to
Add a maintenance schedule to Heron
- Equipment
- Main engine #2
- Task
- 250-hour service: oil, filters, valve lash check
- Interval
- Every 250 running hours
- Source
- Operator's manual, section 6.2, page 41
- A maintenance assistant that acts
- Tell it what happened and it proposes the record: open or complete a work order, log running hours and measurements, record a drill or a survey, or add a Towing Vessel Record entry.
- Schedules from manuals
- Give it the address of an equipment manual. It drafts the maintenance schedule with the manual’s own procedure as a checklist, including the parts, tools, and safety notes it states.
- Non-conformities
- Log and close non-conformities by describing them, and ask for similar ones from the past before deciding on a corrective action.
- Invoices without a work order
- The assistant can propose the work order that matches an unmatched invoice, so maintenance cost lands on the right vessel.
- Harbor assistant
- On the live map, ask about the harbor and get an answer based on the vessels on screen and the hourly weather.
- Report summaries
- Revenue reports open with a short written summary: concentration, outliers, and customers who have gone quiet, all from calculated figures.
- Port setup
- Type a port’s name and AI suggests its details, from location and time zone to VTS channel and pilotage, for you to check and save.
- Inspector dossier on request
- Ask the maintenance assistant for a vessel’s inspector dossier and it pulls the records together for you.
Guardrails
AI suggests. Your people approve.
A towing company answers to the Coast Guard, its customers, and its crews. So the AI in MergeMarine is built to be checked: it shows its work, stays inside each person’s permissions, and leaves every decision with a person.
- Approval before any change
- An assistant can propose a change, never make one. Each proposal is shown in plain words, and someone with approval rights approves or declines it. Both outcomes are logged.
- Read-only questions
- Questions run through a read-only database connection, so an answer can never alter a record.
- The same permissions as the person asking
- An administrator sets which data AI may use for each role. If a question reaches past that, the assistant says so instead of guessing.
- Sensitive crew details stay out
- Credential document numbers, medical details, personal notes, and days served on other companies’ vessels are never given to AI.
- Figures first, words second
- Report summaries are written from numbers MergeMarine has already calculated. The assistant may not state a figure that is not in them.
- Still works with AI switched off
- The maintenance assistant falls back to a built-in planner and report summaries fall back to plain wording, so the work carries on.
